3 Day Luxury Private Birding Safari at Kings Camp with Nic Squires—a specialist SKS (Special Knowledge Skills) Bird Guide
Indulge in a luxury private birding safari at Kings Camp Private Game Reserve in South Africa. Keen twitchers can gear up for a fantastic experience in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve. Part of the greater Kruger National Park, Timbavati is renowned for its wealth of biodiversity and offers the perfect setting for a private birding safari, as well as some exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities.
With more than 360 species of birds recorded, Timbavati Private Game Reserve is a bird lover’s paradise. It is estimated that safari-goers can see more species of birds in one day than what is usually possible in a decade or more. On traditional guided game drives, the experience is primarily focused on wildlife sights and game viewing, and avid twitchers sharing this experience might be disappointed. With our 3-day private birding safari, guests can enjoy the luxury of an exclusive experience, with a bonus of exceptional game viewing while out ticking off your bird list.
This private birding safari is located in the luxury Timbavati Private Game Reserve and offers many advantages. The exclusivity of the safari means fewer vehicles, traversing off the main roads so guests can get closer to the sightings. From getting off the vehicle to set up the spotting scope to evening viewing of nocturnal birds, this private birding safari provides an amazing experience. The Lodge itself is a good birding base, especially in the summer months when woodland kingfishers and red-headed weavers nest in the camp. The area features an abundance of large diurnal raptors, and cuckoos and their antics are a regular sighting. While out exploring the Drakensberg escarpment Black-fronted Bush-Shrike or Narina Trogon would be a great find.
Spend two days exploring bushveld birds at Kings Camp—either in an open safari vehicle or on foot. The professional guide will take you on an adventure in search of an array of species through a variety of habitats such as Mopane Woodlands, Olifants River Rugged Veld and Thornveld Gabbro soils.
After breakfast, join Nic in a Toyota Fortuner for a trip up Mariepskop/Blyde River Canyon for forest and mountain bird sightings. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the mountains.
