Manyeleti Game Reserve | South Africa | Wild Safari Guide

Manyeleti Game Reserve is a privately owned reserve located between the iconic Kruger National Park and the Timbavati Game Reserve and provides an unparalleled safari experience in South Africa. The reserve is owned and managed by the local Mnisi Tribe and spans 23,000 hectares. Safari goers to this part of South Africa can expect some of the best game-viewing experiences since the borders surrounding the reserve are open, meaning wildlife from the neighbouring reserves and parks roam freely.

This beautiful area is characterised by grassy plains and mixed woodland and forms part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem, offering an authentic wildlife experience. During the wet season, the vegetation tends to get quite thick, while the dry season means animals can quench their thirst in a large, centrally-located dam. Manyeleti Game Reserve provides easy access to those coming from Johannesburg. Safari-goers can fly from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit directly and then travel a further 45 minutes to the reserve.

As there are no fences between the Kruger National Park and the neighbouring private game reserves, resident wildlife can roam freely. Manyeleti features a prime territory for the iconic Big Five of Africa and offers excellent opportunities for viewing the Big Cats, including the elusive leopard. The Big Five animals, including the lion, rhino, buffalo and elephant, are often spotted roaming around during a guided game drive, while more than 300 bird species are present in the area. Furthermore, there is a wide variety of antelope and grazers roaming the area.

Like most reserves and parks in this area, the dry season offers the best time for game viewing. From May to September, the vegetation thins out, and animals seek out watering holes to stay hydrated. While the weather is at its best for viewing, mornings can be chilly, so travellers should bring along an appropriate variety of clothing.

Manyeleti Game Reserve makes a great safari destination for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and bird watchers alike. The reserve offers a wealth of activities, including popular guided game drives and walking safaris. During a game drive, safari-goers are accompanied by professional rangers with in-depth knowledge about the fauna and flora of the area, so guests can expect an incredible wildlife experience. On foot, guests get to experience wildlife and nature up close and personally, along with an expert tracker and guide. Walking safaris offer a thrilling experience, with the possibility of approaching certain wildlife and viewing them from a short distance away.

Manyeleti Game Reserve features three types of accommodation to suit every traveller and budget. The exclusive accommodation options include a tented camp, a safari lodge, and a luxurious manor house. Each offers an authentic safari experience in the bush, along with modern amenities and excellent service.
