At Motswari, guests will experience the Big Five living naturally and without human interference. The lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino are just some of the highlights of the Motswari Game Reserve. Motswari Private Game Reserve supports a diverse range of species, each fulfilling a particular niche for their survival. The Timbavati is well-known for its predator populations, which include one of Africa's highest densities of lions. Painted wolves and cheetahs are also frequently spotted in the area, as well as elephants and Cape buffalos. All of the region's antelope species have healthy populations.

Motswari is a birding paradise, especially from September to May, when numerous migratory species arrive for breeding or to escape the harsh northern winter. There are 400 of the 900 bird species found in southern Africa.

Motswari is best visited during the dry winter months of May to September. As rivers and waterholes become gathering places for animals, wildlife viewing is spectacular. As the dry season progresses, the wildlife viewing improves and this, combined with the warmer weather, makes September an ideal time to visit.

At Motswari Private Game Reserve, all of the safaris are guided by knowledgeable game rangers who have a thorough understanding of the local flora and fauna that have lived in the reserve for decades. These game rangers are enthusiastic about preserving the environment and instructing visitors about the jungle and its inhabitants. Visitors can cool themselves in the pool to escape the heat of the day or there is an art gallery, a boutique shop, and a well-stocked library that add to the comfort of the surroundings. Guests can enjoy guided walking safaris, nature walks, bird watching, and early morning and late afternoon game drives—when the wildlife is most active and the scenery is at its most breathtaking.

The lodge at Motswari Private Game Reserve boasts 15 ensuite bungalows that offer plenty of space and all the luxury of a hotel in the city. Facilities at the lodge include a library and lounge with Wi-Fi facilities, two full bars, indoor and outdoor dining, a swimming pool with fantastic views, and a curio shop.
