The Vumbura Reserve features a classic Okavango Delta landscape—from the large lagoons hugged by forests of towering teak trees to the grassy floodplains peppered with tree islands. The Okavango Delta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most scenic areas in Botswana. Here, safari-goers can expect to see water-loving antelope as well as woodland species like sable. The area also has a reputation for big cat sightings, so guests should look out for leopards, lions, and cheetahs. For bird lovers, Vumbura Reserve is home to about 600 bird species and offers fantastic bird watching opportunities throughout the year. Lilac-breasted rollers, carmine bee-eaters, secretary birds, and Pel’s fishing owls are among them.

Botswana's dry season is between May and October when guests can expect warm, sunny days and chilly nights. This is also when the water levels in the Okavango Delta are at their highest, and when wildlife spotting is at its finest.

Vumbura Reserve sits on nearly 130,000 acres and dedicates its time to protect the plants and wildlife of the Okavango Delta. Guests opting to visit the reserve can stay at one of the camps, which offer luxury safari experiences in the heart of the bush. Professional guides take guests on an unforgettable journey into the surrounding wilderness. Sightings of lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, and buffalos are common and allow photography amateurs a chance at getting up close and personal. Guests can cruise quietly through the channels in a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe, or adventure into the skies in a hot-air balloon or by helicopter. Furthermore, with approximately 600 bird species, bird watchers can bring along their binoculars and keep an out for the likes of lilac-breasted rollers, carmine bee-eaters, secretary birds, and Pel’s fishing owls.

Vumbura Reserve offers a stunning camp. Vumbura Plains Camp is a contemporary balance of wood, glass, and canvas, representing all the colours of the Delta. There are 14 spacious suites with indoor and outdoor showers, an en-suite bathroom, a private plunge pool, and an outdoor 'sala’ with views of the never-ending wildlife parade.
