At least 170 square kilometres of the park is made up of ocean, while the rest of the landscape comprises evergreen pine forests and impressive canyons flanked by limestone cliffs.
This isolated and remote area is relatively unknown, and only the privy have enjoyed the sweeping aerial views of Morocco’s coast and endless ocean. Dusty jeep tracks curve their way through the park, providing easy routes for walking, mountain biking and 4×4 activities.
In the forested areas, visitors might be lucky enough to spot endemic bird species, wild boar and jackals. The park is freckled with Berber settlements, eager to introduce curious visitors to their local wares.
Situated in northern Morocco, the closest town to the national park is Al Hoceima. The presence of the international airport (Cherif Al Idrissi Airport) in town makes the area easily accessible. Getting to the actual park from the town does require planning.
